A recently released set of design schematics claimed to be for Apple’s upcoming fifth-generation iPad reveal a design similar to that of Apple’s current iPad mini. The documents, which were originally released by Nowhereelse.fr, show an iPad that has the characteristics of both the current fourth-generation model and the iPad mini. The design seems to have a reduced width and what appears to be a thinner bezel than the current 9.7-inch model.

The upcoming design seems to be heavily influenced by the current iPad mini design, complete with rounded off back corners and a new location for the speaker, which faces downward rather than backward. The schematics seem to match up with several rumored details, third-party cases and leaked parts, all of which have claimed to offer a quick glimpse of what Apple’s next iPad may look like.



Based on the current rumors, the Cupertino California company’s next iPad will be roughly 15% thinner and 33% lighter than the current fourth-generation model and is expected to go on sale later this year. One thing to note though is that several case makers who have obtained what are supposed device schematics have often been incorrect when it comes to providing accurate data. We can’t be sure how accurate the design schematics are until more concrete information is revealed so we’ll just have to be patient.
