| Subject: AT&T Offers $200 Off Early iPhone 5 Upgrades, Brings Cheaper Mobile Share Plans Wed Jul 24, 2013 8:34 am | |
| AT&T is beginning to offer $200 off early iPhone upgrades to bring the cost from $650 for a 16GB iPhone 5 to $450. Those who are currently not eligible or reduced pricing (must pay full off contract price for a device) are only eligible for this offer. This move is most likely aimed towards reducing iPhone 5 inventory, so if you are currently looking to buy an iPhone 5 but were stuck with full retail pricing, then this is a good deal to pick up. The carrier also introduced two new mobile share plans this week, which will start rolling out July 26. A new 300MB per month plan will be priced at $20. Additionally, the carrier will also offer mobile share in a new 2GB option ($50). AT&T previously only offered 1GB and 4GB. Available July 26, new and existing customers will have two new Mobile Share plan options to choose from — 300 MB or 2 GB of data with unlimited talk and text. The 300 MB plan is only $20 a month, with additional costs per device added. Now, customers with basic and quick-messaging devices can share data and unlimited talk and text for as low as $50 a month and smartphone customers for $70 a month. The new 2 GB plan provides another choice for customers whose data needs exceed our existing 1 GB plan available today. It is clear that AT&T is making a push for Mobile Share options for its customers. Hopefully those grandfathered with unlimited data can keep that as long as they wish. |
