Apple is celebrating its 1 billionth Podcast subscription today. On its Podcast pages in the iTunes store, Apple has announced they have reached the 1 billion mark and have created a special page of new and classic Podcasts. The company also announced the news via its iTunes Podcast twitter account.
The service originally started in 2005 as an alternative to radio shows allowing for companies and users to create their own shows and lets customers download them form the iTunes store.
Reportedly, the subscriptions are spread across 250,000 unique Podcasts in more than 100 languages with more than eight million episodes.
The new celebrator section includes Podcasts such as TEDTalks, 60 minutes, This American Life and more.
