Facebook may launch Mobile ad network this month
If a new report is to be believed, Facebook will launch its long awaited mobile ad network later this month. Re/Code cites multiple sources familiar with the matter claiming that the social networking giant will launch this ad network at the F8 developer conference in San Francisco.
By offering its own mobile ads, Facebook will allow its clients to leverage the large amount of user data at its disposal, thus allowing them to target it with increased efficiency. Facebook has been long expected to take this big step to combat the likes of Google’s AdMob network, Apple’s iAd, Millennial Media and some other players in the mobile ad segment.
This newest venture will mean that the company can now generate revenue independently of its social networking website. Facebook generated close to $1.24 billion in Q4 of 2013 just from mobile ads, so it’s clear that this is a very lucrative venture.
A majority of these mobile ads are said to be app related, which navigates users to the app stores of the respective mobile platform. This allows developers to give their apps the much needed exposure.
Twitter is also expected to join the action relatively soon with its mobile ad network, so things could really heat up in the mobile ad space in the coming months.
Facebook will be holding the F8 developer conference in San Francisco on April 30th.
