How to Add a Music Lyrics Widget to Your Installation of ProWidgets Lyricswidgetbanner

Just last month, iOS developer Alan Yip released ProWidgets, which is an extensible widget platform for iOS 7 that third-party developers can create widgets for. Developers have been taking advantage of the platform in a positive manner, releasing all kinda of third party widgets ranging from currency conversion, sports information, text translation, and more.

One of the more recent releases is a widget called LyricsWidget by iOS developer DjKira that will let you see the lyrics of any currently-playing music. It doesn't matter if the music is playing int he stock Music application, or if the music is playing from a third-party music application, such as Spotify, Pandora, or Rdio – the widget will still be able to pull up lyrics for you, as shown above.

The widget has a red interface with a close button at the top left, and a re-load button at the top right. The lyrics are displayed in a large canvas space where you can scroll up or down to read them. In the event that you don't have any music playing, and you launch the widget, it will tell you that no media is playing, as shown below:

As explained in our original review of ProWidgets, there are several different ways of opening different widgets via the platform. If you're an Activator fan, then you can assign an Activator action to LyricsWidget. Alternatively, you can use CCLoader to add a quick shortcut to Control Center, or you can configure some of the built-in ProWidgets shortcuts for Notification Center without installing more tweaks like we did below:

Unlike most of the ProWidgets add-ons we've shown you in the past, LyricsWidget is not free – it's a 99¢ purchase from Cydia's ModMyi repository. To use it, you will need ProWidgets installed and need to be running iOS 7. If you don't already have ProWidgets installed, it's a $2.99 purchase from Cydia's BigBoss repository. If you like listening to music and following along with the lyrics, then this might be a worthy investment.
