While iOS 7 is rumored to bring a new look to Apple's mobile OS, many
of us are also hoping for new features. Brye Kobayashi has given the
Music app a completely new look and feel with a concept that features
the much anticipated Up Next feature already in iTunes 11.
Navigation:The
bottom navigation took up space that could be used to view more
content. Now, it's been consolidated into the top menu for quick access
anywhere. Currently playing tracks are displayed up top, along with
the new Up Next queue.
Menu:Press the menu button to
bring up the sidebar menu. Switch between different views, change
playlists, and search your entire music library.
Up Next:Queue
up songs to listen to after the current song finishes. Add tracks from
anywhere, and arrange them so you never have to skip a song.
Now Playing:The
new navigation bar display the currently playing track info, along with
a progress bar to show the duration of the track. Simply tap the
middle to bring up the player.
Player:The new player has been toned down, and enhanced with new features that make it easier to enjoy your music.
Controls:The
scrubber has been redesigned to be larger and more visible. And, the
EQ has been moved directly into the player for quick access.
Playback:The
playback controls have been expanded to reduce accidental volume
changes. This also allows the album artwork to be vertically centered.
Album Tracks:Slide up on the album art to reveal other tracks from the same album.
Dashboard Mode:Coverflow
was great for eye-candy, but really didn't make browsing through albums
very efficient. That's where Dashboard mode comes in. Instead of yet
another way to browse albums, Dashboard mode makes it easy to switch
songs while driving or on-the-go.
Timeline:Dashboard
mode shows you songs that are coming up, and ones you just listened to.
Simply scroll left or right, and select a song. You can also view
other tracks from the same album, and add more songs to the Up Next
queue.
