| Nokia X vs Top 5 Android rivals Nokia's budget smartphone faces stiff competition in the crowded budget segment. KYMI picks its top 5 rivals Nokia has rolled out the Nokia X in the Indian markets with a price tag of Rs. 8,500. The phone runs a heavily modified version of Android which has been moulded to resemble the interface found on Lumia devices. Despite running a forked version of Android, the Nokia X doesn’t have full access to the Play Store and users will have to rely on the Nokia Store to download apps. If you are looking to buy a low-budget Android handset, the Nokia X might be one of the phones on your list. KYMI compares how it matches to its competitors: 1. Samsung Galaxy S Duos 2: The Samsung Galaxy S Duos 2 costs nearly the same as the Nokia X. Despite the similarity in cost, the Galaxy S Duos 2 is better than the Nokia X in almost all aspects. It features a slightly higher clocked processor, more RAM, camera Flash and full access to the Google Play Store. The Nokia X is the better looking phone of the two and the tile interface might feel more intuitive. 2. XOLO Q800 X-Edition: If you have no qualms in going for Indian manufacturers, the XOLO Q800 destroys the Nokia X in terms of hardware. It features a 4.5 inch qHD display powered by a 1.2 GHz quad-core processor backed by 1 GB of RAM. The Q800 has a 8 megapixel primary snapper and a 1 megapixel front camera. The Android Jelly Bean on the device means that you can also download all apps from the Play Store. 3. Sony Xperia M: Sony’s competing budget handset is priced higher at Rs. 11,000. The extra money gets you 512 MB RAM more than the Nokia X which goes a long way in improving multitasking. It also has a secondary camera which has been omitted in the Nokia X. 4. XOLO Q900: The XOLO Q900 costs almost 1K more than the Nokia X but delivers value for the extra money. It is a larger device with the HD screen measuring 4.7 inches. It is powered by a 1.2 GHz quad-core processor paired with 1 GB of RAM. The primary camera is an 8 megapixel shooter while the front camera is 2 megapixels. 5. Karbonn Titanium S5 Plus: Karbonn has come up with a solid budget device with its Titanium S5 plus. Coming at a price of Rs. 10,000, it features a 1.3 GHz quad-core processor coupled with 1 GB of RAM. The 5 inch qHD display might be slightly large for some people. It has an eight megapixel primary shooter along with a front-facing camera for video calls. The 1800 mAh battery might face a few problems in getting you through the day, though.
